Alex Murphy will be guest speaker at the recently-formed Oldham Players' Association's first sportsmen's dinner, to be held at the Oldham St Anne's club, Higginshaw Road, Oldham on Monday, October 13, 2008.
 
Malcolm Lord will be MC, and the association is also hoping to have ex-referee Billy Thompson on the top table to complete a trio of renowned entertainers on rugby league's after-dinner circuit.
 
Members of the association who have received notice that the dinner is in November should note the new date, caused by unforeseen circumstances.
 
Tickets priced £25 will be available soon, details to be announced after the association's next meeting at the St Anne's club next Tuesday, May 13.
 
At the last meeting, held at Saddleworth Rangers and chaired by Martin Murphy, members considered the adoption of an association tie, shirt with badge and blazer badge.
