Proud to be our mascot --- and a lucky one at that --- is our chairman Bill Quinn's nine-year-old son Harrison, better known throughout the club as Harry.

A popular little chap, Harrry takes his mascot duties seriously, so much so that he is always ready to lead out the team in both home and away games and if he has to miss out you can be assured it will be for a very good reason and usually one in which he doesn't have a say in the matter.

Mascots were not allowed on the occasion of our Co-operative NL2 Grand Final
appearance against Featherstone at Headingley last year, but that was one of the few times Harry has not been on official duty since he took on the role midway through last season.

He couldn't get to the Salford City Reds game at The Willows earlier this season because he was in a school play at Alderley Edge that evening.

And if Harry is not on duty, for whatever reason, the Roughyeds have a habit of slipping up, so let's hope this Sunday's Northern Rail Cup clash with NL1 side Whitehaven at Boundary Park (3pm kick off) bucks the trend, seeing that Harry will be on holiday with his Dad in Dubai.

Incidentally, when Hunslet Hawks were at Boundary Park on Easter Monday, Harry had a little helper in Chelsea, the two-year-old daughter of our assistant coach Mark Cass.

And readers of our match-day magazine for the York game last Sunday were told: "Chelsea shared mascot duties at the Hunslet game last week with our regular mascot, the chairman's little boy, Harry, a real Roughyeds fanatic, if ever you saw one.

"Harry, an old hand now at this mascot lark, took the opportunity to chaperone
little Chelsea on the pitch in what was a special moment for the Cass family."

Once he is back on duty after his holiday, Harry intends to lead Roughyeds from the front all the way to promotion this season while picking up from 'Two Bobs' and the boys one or two tips which will come in handy when he plays rugby for The Ryleys School in Alderley Edge.
